Design and implementation of dry toilets in the Kichwa Runashito and Amazon Rainforest communities.

The project focuses on implementing dry toilet prototypes in the Kichwa Runashito de Humuyaku and Selva Amazónica (Quijos Nation) Indigenous communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon. In a context where adequate sanitation is nearly nonexistent, the initiative aims to improve living conditions through sustainable, culturally relevant, and environmentally appropriate solutions aligned with community Life Plans.
The methodological approach emphasizes active participation of women and youth, incorporating their knowledge and needs throughout the design, implementation, and maintenance of the dry toilets. The project promotes co-creation that respects Indigenous worldviews, addressing gender gaps and strengthening local capacities through training processes.

Training in tourism and environment at the Sevilla Don Bosco Association

Pilot project for sustainable tourism in the Shuar Association of Sevilla Don Bosco, located in the Ecuadorian Amazon. This initiative forms part of a participatory process guided by community Life Plans, aiming to enhance natural and cultural resources, support local development, and strengthen Shuar identity. The design and implementation of the “Yukias Route” is presented as the central tourism experience.

The project includes comprehensive training for 35 local entrepreneurs, covering topics such as business vision, sustainable tourism practices, quality management, environmental interpretation, digital technologies, and monitoring tools like drones and GPS. Training activities are delivered through theoretical workshops, field visits, case studies, and practical exercises. The chosen methodology encourages active learning, teamwork, and community ownership of the tourism initiative.
