A concept note titled “Strengthening Urban Resilience in the Río Negro Basin through Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) for Climate Adaptation” was developed by AAE for submission to the “Large Innovation Projects” funding window of the Adaptation Fund, within the framework of the Nature4Cities program implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The concept note was drafted in consultation with national authorities and specifically designed to address the objective of reducing risks associated with floods, droughts, and extreme temperatures in vulnerable cities within the Río Negro Basin. Nature-based adaptation strategies were proposed for implementation considering inputs previously provided by local stakeholders—including civil society and the private sector. These strategies were framed to integrate biodiversity and ecosystem co-benefits, while also contributing to increased knowledge and awareness of the role ecosystems play in buffering the local impacts of climate change.
