Analysis of CI Bolivia’s Environmental and Social Management System (SISCI) against the KfW Sustainability Guideline

This project is developed within the framework of the “Protection and Sustainable Management of the Amazon” project, financed by KfW and implemented by Conservation International Bolivia. The project aims to support deforestation reduction and promote sustainable forest management through the participation of local stakeholders, including Indigenous Peoples and local communities. It contributes to strengthening conservation measures, improving integrated fire management, consolidating national monitoring and safeguards systems, and advancing results-based approaches under REDD+.

AAE was contracted to assess the level of compliance and identify gaps in Conservation International’s Safeguards System (SISCI) against the KfW Sustainability Guideline, with the objective of ensuring alignment with international environmental, social, and climate standards.

The consultancy includes:

1. the assessment of existing institutional frameworks, procedures, and tools;
2. the identification of gaps against KfW requirements and relevant international standards;
3. the development of an action plan to strengthen and align the system; and
4. the adaptation of procedures, tools, and operational workflows for project implementation.

In addition, the project includes capacity-building activities for the Conservation International Bolivia team and the integration of procedures into the Project Operational Manual, ensuring effective management of environmental and social risks and impacts throughout implementation.
